In a landmark ruling supreme court has stated that all the hulla gulla on M F Husain painting is motivated. In cases pertaining to nudity and obscenity charges against the veteran painter. M F Husain was charged of malafide intentions in portraying Hindu Goddesses in bad taste by drawing these nude. Court stated:
"A painter has his own perspective of looking at things and it cannot be the basis of initiating criminal proceedings against him,"
"In India, new puritanism is being carried out in the name of cultural purity and a host of ignorant people are vandalizing art and pushing us towards a pre-renaissance era,"
court further observed:
"A painter at 90 deserves to be sitting in his home and painting his canvas."
In fact court reminded the petitioner and nation at large that this country is of Kamsutra and nudity or nude depiction, including of deities is very common here. Besides Court took exception and looking at nude body with obscenity perspective only.
Talking about Hindi Blogosphere... it is already full of these puritans as stated above... accused and abused M.F.Husain on many occasions earlier..judgment won't go very well with them, I suspect.
