Taking a Call from Hell

Rajendra Yadav the (in)famous editor of Hans finally spoke on Hindi Blogging, quite polemical, and now the Hindi Blogosphere is on Fire. My opinion is

here :मसिजीवी: दोज़ख की जुबान सी जरूरी है ब्‍लॉगिंग

It interesting that Mr. Yadav did quite many provoking things at this Hindi Bhavan Hall in Delhi. He equated internet and  blogging with trend of hell, Called blogosphere a trash bin and called all medieval Hindi literature be confined to museums. Besides defying all the law and sensitivities he actually smoke from the dais.

Hindi Blogosphere came up with following posts on the issue:

Reports:

Report I at HindYugm

Report II at Hind Yugm

Cartoon at Hind Yugm

Shobha Mahendru’s Anger

My Take

Avinash’s Assortment

Prashant’s Viwes

G K Avadhia’s  Moral Musings

Anonymity Criminalised

It probably is not related to recently passed IT Act (amendment) 2006 but Dinesh Dwivedi has informed the Hindi Blog world that if anonymity bothers a sufferer then s/he can approach the court and service providers are law bound to reveal the identity of culprit and then as it is said the law will take its own course.

Tectile Tiled Footpaths of Delhi

I realised that I am getting really lazy here on this blog. So to set it in order I am adding something that will be very helpful (to me). It is self promotion :)) So while continue to report Hindi Blogosphere, I’ll make it a point to give intro to my own Hindi posts as well.

Today I expressed my views of new tectile footpaths of Delhi. Something that Delhi Metro introduced in a big way by making all its stations and coaches dsabled friendly, now MCD has waken itself up.

Life Beyond Aggregators

I am kind of feeling burdened with information overload. Cynthia suggests that it might not be such a bad thing. I agree, but it is strenuous nevertheless. Thinking of Hindi blogging it appears that people now will have to think blogging beyond aggregators. personalised aggregators is the solution. One should be able add remove feeds of his choice and that should be beyond just Hindi blogs. Yes its there igoogle and other places but can aggregators offer the space like that…iblogvani, ichittha.

Is Intel Core i7 a new hope for Language Computing?

 intel i7

Intel launched its brand new processor Intel Core i7. i7 is based on a new architecture marked different from core2 architecture. Techtree informed

Based on a completely new architecture, the Core i7 processors are markedly different from their predecessors and have many advantages over them. There is the increased parallelism with the processor being capable of executing 33% more concurrent micro-ops simultaneously.

Now the question is whether this addition of mass processing capability will end the language computing limitations in areas like  automated translation.

Hindi Blogosphere is undergoing change  faster then ever. So much so much so that we hardly miss a day without being at Blogvani, still end up getting blogs that are new. For instance take MadiraGyan (Booz knowledge) . I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised to see such an information rich Hindi Blog. This blog focusses on Madira and its types, its storage, its types (Whisky, wine, Beer, Scotch, American whisky..) I am sure cocktails, wine glasses, etc will follow. One gets this all sophisticated knowledge in Hindi with even the terminology like fermentation, distillation being translated and well translated.ScreenHunter_01 Nov. 19 18.29

So heading to bar..update yourself at Madira Gyan before you order your next drink. One must know what is there in glass before kissing it.

Amitabh Bachchan is now Ink Blogging in Hindi

Here is latest post from Amitabh

amitabh

We call it Ink Blogging. He is not the first one to use Ink Blogging for Hindi. The Hindi Blogosphere is overjoyed to see Big B blogging in Hindi. Ravi very gladly informs the world.

Update : Ashish made a point that Ink Blogging should not really be considered as Hindi Blogging and then Amitabhji actually wrote a Hindi post. Yes it Hindi post. Unicode Hindi post no adultration, here it is.

Thanks Amitji for this endorsement to Hindi Blogging.

Finally Amitabh Bachchan’s Blog in Hindi as Well

Not quite!! The blog is same as we pointed earlier. News is that Rahul Upadhyay, who is originally from Ratlam has decided to stop requesting Amitabh to write in Hindi, and do it himself. So now on whenever Amitabh writes a blog, rahul takes it upon himself to spend a few hours and translate the blog at his own. Quite simple isn’t it.

Is it copyright violation? I don’t think so mainly:

Because Rahul has informed Bachchanji that he is translating the blog only till Big B has any problem with it, or BB want to do it himself.

Also because as per the prevailing practice Rahul is giving proper link and credit to what he translating. Every post is nothing but a fan’s admiration. and mind it Amitji in his last post paid gratitude to fans, like Rahul for making the Chhora of Ganga Kinaare, what he has become_ BIG B

YOU that spend your precious time in reaching out to me and extending your love and affection. Acknowledging my presence in your lives. Correcting the wrongs that I do. Suggesting, applauding, laughing and crying with me. I am deeply indebted to all.

YOU have become my strength. My weakness too. I think of you throughout the day. What will please you, what will entertain and enlighten you. How should I connect with all, how can I make my comment today interesting to read. How can I respond and reply to the hundreds of those that write in to me.

YOU are an extension of my self. You share my grief and exuberance. My dress and my travel. My moods and idiosyncrasies. My beliefs and my relations. My work. My rise and my fall.

YOU are my alter ego. I disclose much to you. Much that I would perhaps have never done before.

YOU have gained my trust and faith and friendship and I your devotion.

YOU are unique to me. In word and in spirit. Together we have built a world of our own. A small world, albeit. But one that encompasses a large emotion.

Hindi Bloggers Taking Top Journalist Head On

Hindi blogging is getting bold to bolder. That is what the spirit of blogging is. This time it is Top TV journalist Punya Prasun Bajpai. the whole story goes like it- Bajpai wrote a story on his blog, story tries to problematize the most problematic :) Terrorism what else. Taking Jamia Nagar incident and analysing the irony of residents there. What Prasun erred was that he took no position on encounter itself and kind of swept the incident under carpet kind of suggesting that encounter might not be a genuine one.

That obviously did not went well with other Hindi bloggers. Had it been two years hence, bloggers might have ‘requested’ Prasun to look at the other picture but here the beaming Hindi bloggers tries to look at the Prasun eye to eye and dare him on every front. A counter post by Viswa Samay and really outspoken comments says a lot.

Rather than this or that position on the issue what interests me is the fact that Hindi blogging is no more a shying kid playing junior to other forms of media. Here the common bloggers are taking the big one head on..I’m luving it.

Bollywood Movie Used Computer in 1978

Kabadkhana may sound absurd to you but if you are Hindi Blogger then you know that it is gem of a blog. In a recent post Sidheshwar dug out a fact that we were not aware at all. Sidheshwar points out that it was Amitabh Bachchan’s “Trishul” where the word “Computer” got mentioned in a Bollywood dialogue for the first time. Amazing fact, Isn’t it?

Trishul was released in May, 1978. PC was nowhere to be seen yet (I touched  computer in 1989, owned one three years later) so Bollywood should be considered well advanced that they used “computer” (though only word) in 78. Anyways if you are interested the Hero called his secretary a computer and when she wondered “what the hell is that”, he explains it is a machined invented in west that can do all calculation and typing correctly..huh not bad for a guy of seventies, is it. some 25 years later this very angry young man was asking this machine..Lock kiya jaye…

Searching Indian Mujahideen

After the Delhi Blasts, everyone is fuming, Bloggers included. I am not an exception. Everyone is searching Indian Mujahideen. IM sent this email to media-

“Within 5 minutes from now…this time with the Message of Death, dreadfully terrorising you for your sins,” the email said. “And thus our promise will be fulfilled. Inshallah,”

So from security agencies to commoners and Bloggers are frantically searching the IM. (though I wonder hoe someone who is deadly Mujahideen can call itself 'Indian") . Anyway's if you are also looking for Indian Mujahideen...I know what should you do it...Simple GOOGLE it.

Income Tax Relief on Pay Commission Arrears

While every government employee find himself in dilemma to be happy or not. Sixth pay Commission stand implemented and they are pronounced to richer by 21%. But what is not announced is that a big chink of what employees will get is taken back in terms of Income Tax. Even the group C employees are bracketed in 30% slab due to arrears. What is more objectionable is the fact that while they will get only 40% of the due arrears in this financial year but they will have to pay tax on whole arrear rather then a part thereof. To do so, Income Tax Department is taking refuse in an earlier SC directive that empowers the govt to levy tax on due hike rather than actual payment. What this whole jargon implies to common employees is that they actually end up getting their arrears minus 30% of the total due arrears.

Now there is news as reported in Karmchari's Blog that employees may get option to stagger their arrear income into last three years instead of considering it income of one year only, it will help some to get the lower tax slab rather then higher one.  General feeling though is that government is giving by one hand and taking back by other.

Pain in Parlor : The Ugly Face of Beauty

The headturners across the street pays heavily to be one. The mushrooming beauty parlours carry out several processes like waxing, threading etc on willing bodies, presumably human. But this willingness is more social than voluntary. Consider a twelve year old girl pushed to parlour for a painful procedure called waxing. Molten sugar is spread on the skin and then it is pulled suddenly causing unnecessary pain. But why? compliance...sir compliance. Compliance to the expectation that girls should learn to be beautiful, for beauty is the only insurance for attention and 'care' of menfolks.

Neelima's post on pain in parlours is important as it points to deep socialization of women, that they no more need any push from men. Their socialization prepares them so efficiently that they not only queue themselves at parlours for painful procedures but also train new ones from their species to learn to bear the pain.

Condom Ringtone Shakes Hindi Sanskars

You don't expect anything different, do you. Condom may be a simple latex balloon but it is no less than bomb when it comes to the 'sanskari' Hindi intelligentsia. Take the post from Neeshoo at Media Vyuh. Neeshoo is too embarrassed to hear the Condom word. The whole sanskari mindset is threatened. We don't say much..while I agree to the conclusion as Anshumali puts that market is intruding into the personally space little bit too much but Condom ringtone is not the reason thereof. Very purpose of removing the taboo makes it a necessary that C word be spoken aloud.

BTW I just don't understand that if Savita is a behenji who will embarrassed hearing the condom word, why will she install it in her phone at all. Neeshoo fails to explain that Savita should learn switching the phone off when she is in conference. Very adjective that 'serious matter' was under discussion (with people who don't know phone etiquettes) underlines that the writer believes that issues of condom, AIDS, sex, VD, STD and other health issues are non-serious, mundane junk.

Going against the 'sanskars' here are some ads popularizing the Condom-

Google Chrome : Defining Browsing Afresh

ScreenHunter_01 Sep. 02 18.40

Google is developing Chrome, their browser. the browser attempts to redefine the Internet browsing experience as they claim.  Vikas of BlogBudhi informed the Hindi world of the plans of G0oogle. Google is listing the open source project as change in paradigm. Well it can very well be so. Parallel processing is one reason but there are other features and stability aspect that promises a smooth surfing experience and couple it with the OS like features, I wonder if it is beginning of the end of windows, well before the Midori comes.

Gazette Notification of Sixth pay Commission

(Please note that file is 6MB so will take a while in downloading)

Just to give a taste here is the explanation of the issues discussed yesterday, New pay scales for teachers:

image

Sixth Pay Commission Notification on Friday

Though PM announced the implementation of Sixth Pay Commission Report but its nitty gritties will not be clear till the notification is out. For instance the lakhs of teachers are wondering what happened to the recommendation of granting two scale upgradation that the 6th CPC made for teachers. CPC has recommended that Primary teachers be granted the scale that is equivalent to current PGTs, similar recommendations were made for TGT and PGT scales as well. Similarly special recommendation were made for Nurses also. But the announcement is mum on these issues, hopefully the notification will clear the air. No wonder that employees are waiting for the notification eagerly. Now it is clear that notification for 6th CPC will be issued tomorrow that is 29th August. News Portal Khabrein is also carrying the news.

UPDATE : NOTIFICATION IS NOW RELEASED YOU CAN READ THE DETAILS AND DOWNLOAD THE COMPLETE NOTIFICATION FROM NEXT POST-CLICK HERE

Indian Classical Music : Hindi Blog Way

Browsing through the blogvani posts, you can easilly miss Radhika Budhkar's Blog Vani. Radhika Budhkar[14] But once there, you are delighted. Personally I don't understand music al all...not to mention that talking Indian Classical is beyond me. What i am delighted is the fact now we have a fellow blogger who is discussing Dhrupad and other compositions. Instruments like Veena and Vichitra Veena.

In her recent post Radhika points out the significance of Dhrupad. In indian classical music this vocal is consodered important. Radhika informs the readers of nuances of this style.

Hundred Thousand Pageloads.... Thank You Readers

100000 pages

Hindi Blog Reader crossed this milestone of 100000 pageloads. The figure is from March-Aug 2008, so five months and 100000 pages is not spectacular but modest is what I am looking forward to. Add to this two adchecks from Google..I am loving it.

Thank you readers.

Nisha Bhatia Sexual Harassment case: The Raw Deal

Nisha Bhatia case has has caught the Indian intelligence agency RAW on wrong foot. Alok Tomar in his dateline India brings some really strong allegation against the RAW chief Ashok Chaturvedi. The post do not stop at just this strange case of getting  senior officer Nisha being declared insane by none other than PMO itself but goes on to other deeds. That includes spending nights with Chinese woman spy.

Ashok Chaturvedi becomes Raw chief because his cousin was Cabinet Secretary of India. With no merit to his post he is the culprit, the post suggest.

To  us if  information provided by Alok are true then our security is in very dirty hands. No doubt apart from the dirty tricks of RAW chief the episode also has a feminist reading, Chokherbali brings it out with a post.

Mother of Traffic Jams: The Delhi-NCR story

Can a traffic jam be a good topic for blog post, it can very well be. Deepti has evoked quite many responses on her account of jams, the DTC way. But even the A/C Cab availing IT guys have their stories, pains and agony.  The 14th August Great Jam of Gurgaon is narrated in detail by Prayas. To me such account are true social history in making. Just decode the class stratification of typically metropolitan structures like Jams. While Deepti gets to her nostalgia of Bhopali rain and Delhi's jam is antidote to it, an obstruction. But to Pryas this jam itself is shade of rain..metro rain. Jam itself is memory rather than hindrance to it.

6th pay Commission now stand implemented.

“The cabinet has approved the pay commission report”. This is the single line statement the lakhs of babus were eagerly waiting to hear. The statement has finally come, it came from the Law Minster Hansraj Bharadwaj and later Minister P.R.Das Munshi also announced that

“I am glad to inform you over and above the pay commission's recommendations, more than 110 billion rupees burden has been undertaken by the union exchequer”.

As we informed earlier that Govt was to take up the matter today so that an announcement can be made from Red Fort tomorrow. So cheer up guys. You can findout your salary at this link. Journalist Bhupinder is the first Hindi Blogger who consider this as nice gift to Central Government Employees.

Cabinet considering 6th Pay Commission Report

Cabinet meeting tomorrow and one agenda item everyone is looking forward to is VI pay commission. CPC figures as agenda in Thursday's meeting. Jammu and Kashmir troubles notwithstanding, Cabinet is likely to give its nod to implementation of 6th pay commission with minor changes. Finance ministry is still insisting to keep 1 Jan 2007 as the date of implementation though CPC recommended Jan 2006 as date, whether PM accept it or not, is to be seen.

Oh!! Farewell to Windows... Make way for Midori

Microsoft believes that it is time for Vista to go.Forget-non-Windows-Midori-Windows- In my opinion Vista actually never arrived but that is a different story.  According to a story in Tarkash, now Microsoft may scrap window platform altogether, it will be a paradigm shift. In an incubation project (This jargon is the only confirmation from Microsoft so far) called Medori, Microsoft will replace windows platform with this web based operating system.

Leaks from Microsoft suggests that there will a intermediate windows edtion between Vista and Midori. If Midori leaks are true, however, the operating system might not be backwards-compatible with the current Vista/Windows 7 OS, meaning that the billions of dollars spent on Windows infrastructure might have to be reinvested on Midori-compatible applications. At this point, however, that's speculation.

Minister of State for Finance Pavan Kumar Bansal made a statement in Hong Kong that Government is moving fast on implementation of Sixth Pay Commission for babus. Karmchari's Blog informed the progress in its blog. It needs a mention here that there is a widespread anxiety among Government employees because of this delay. It is learnt that cabinet has changed the term of refrence of Finance Commission so that it can study the financial implications of VIth Pay Commission, therby delaying its implementation.

Surya Grahan Live courtsey NASA

With ever increasing number of Hindi blogger focussing on the topics of their taste only, it has become a norm that some event that might be of little important for most, get a mention in posts, as some other find it really important. take the solar eclipse for example. The Surya graihan is vailable live on internet Mahashakti informed early in the morning itself. NASA is streaming live the event.

So get going.

Love letter of a Medico: The Witty Code

When Hindi Blogosphere ties to be intellectual (or serious), no matter how well it try...it looks unconvincing. At best it resembles the Amar Singh defending the 'deal'. But we Hindites are their best self when they are informal or satirical. Our own Peeping Pangebaj is doing sting after sting by binging out the love letter series. latest in the series is a loveletter from Medico. We all know of a doctor from Meerut who is referred here, but that later. This doctor writes a letter in his horrible hand writing like any other doctor. The letter itself becomes the Vinci Code. Doctor himself understand that he will not be understood that well...so he writes to her sweetheart to refer the letter to Chemistwala (and mind it he write this instruction too in same horrible handwriting) :))

News of the letter that Arun got is  flashed on Blogworld several helping hands are offered. Finally 106 years old Dr Vidyasagar who runs fulltime charity of reading doc's loveletter finally translates the letter for larger good. Suspense still looms large that whether recipient actually tied knot with the doc or chemistwala (letter is found at the doc's place... how come)

Ha Ha Ha.. Its witty very witty.

5 Emerging Trends in (Hindi) Blogging

It all began with this post from Pro Blogger post is actually a video pos.t here it is:

Pro Blogger examines the latest trends in Blogging and trends are decoded to guess a future course. Following five trends are identified:

  • Multiple Author Blogs
  • Multi-Topic Blogs
  • Blogs Converging with Other Types of Sites
  • Portal-Like Design
  • Indirect Monetization
  • We need not mention that here the present trends and future of blogging here actually mean the trends for English language blogging. Now the big issue how much of these trends are applicable to Hindi Language Blogging. And it takes no less than e swami himself to test these trends on the Hindi Blogging Turf. In his post eswami declares that Hindi Blogging is equally trendy, as these trends are visible in Hindi Blogging as well. Eswami also points out that Hindi Bloggers need to come out of their wells to reap fruits of these new trends.

Print versus TV :Ethics Stooping Game is On

Ethics...Just to remind there used to be a phenomenon called ethics in a profession called Journalism. Ethics are forgotten long ago and journalist no more exists. Yes there are some employees in the offices (swanky ones sure) who wear tags that calls them reporter or editors but they themselves know well that they are not. they are just content arrangers... sex, violence and superstitions are what they need to arrange..not a tough ask..they are doing it fine.

It is not difficult to guess that these employees too know that they are stooping..themselves and the noun journalism. So they find a way to accuse other medium. Well we are just fine it just the other medium who is stooping that much (We stoop full two inches less) This is what Ravish argued and for an unfortunate change, this time he did badly and unconvincingly. His argument is "..Hey stop accusing just the TV, print is stooping equally" Obviously it is bad argument considering that you can not and should not compare the mediums on that count. So it was not surprising that notwithstanding the stature of Ravish..there were readers out there who opposed the analogy. Anil Pusadkar presented his rejoinder at his blog.

Complete Draft of the IAEA Agreement is here

Lively by Google reaching Hindi Community

ScreenHunter_01 Jul. 09 15.15 New virtual second life named Lively is interesting. This is taking the social networking taken a step ahead. Sanjay Bengani informs the Hindi Blogworld about the launch of beta version. Google is creating this new platform, but why? How is it different from orkut and other product out there? Well there are odd additions like adding your own room, creating your chat rooms etc etc. But notwithstanding this all my guess is Google is fishing for new inventories of adspace for its advertisers. Unlike blogs and other places the virtual spaces like lively are more likely to be 'real' and hence the leads to advertisers from here will materialize better then the say blogs. The move is certainly an attempt to try the second life of its own by Google.

News and a bad one for Hindi Users is that so far the Google Lively is not supporting the unicode Hindi Characters because as you type and enter the text it becomes ????? question marks.

Full analysis after full feel of the product.

4th of July :The US, the Nuclear deal and Amar Singh

Just a fact, unverified though but a lot in India is govern by beliefs. Amar Singh returns from US many always believed that US intelligence really likes him a lot, so his stay in US and then his becoming a middleman and finally getting support for nuclear deal can hardly be unrelated. Just queer idea but with US independence day gift in the form of deal is nicely wrapped and there it goes. :)) Just non sense gossip..or may be not.

I thought this news worth a post but didn't realise that Manisha has already informed the Hindi Blogosphere that Google's decision to retire the Google Adsense Referral Programme will push the dream of Pro Blogging in Hindi further back. Mail from Referral Programme informs all users that After August adsense referral code will not show ads and users will have to remove codes from their sites manuaaly if they intend to save the adspace.

It needs mention that earlier Google replaced the Google Adsense ads with Public Service Ads so referrals were the only source of whatever Hindi Bloggers were earning, and now with even this odd dollars discontinued, Hindi Bloggers are left with only their enthusiasm, passion as motivator. I hope it will keep them going.

    Nailing the iPhone

Senstivity is the buzzword in Hindi Blogosphere, nailiphone especially when it comes to women our fellow bloggers are really sensitive. No... No I am not discussing chokherwali here. We are talking a sensitivity that is a nail length away. Fine.. It goes like this. Apple is lanching the 3G iPhone that is priced far below the high end currently available. iPhone is touch screen one that work n the static electricity of fingers. How about the marginal ones who prefer to have long nails.. no finger no static charge :)

Some adon stylus is needed to bring these marginalised beauties..Right. Just hope that Apple listen to it else one will ahve to make a choice- Have Nails or iPhone.
