While our supreme court is damn arrogant in refusing the common man get information about the affairs at apex court. Here is some really cool news...You can get your PAN verified at the NSDL site. Just fill in your PAN number and you will get the name of the PAN holder. So no more befooling by entering false PAN number at purchases.
