Its rumor, speculation, fact..or may be little bit of all. As Hindi Blog Karmchari points out, Government to nullify the ill political effects of steep price rise by implementing the 6th CPC. Group of secretaries in the chairmanship of cabinet Secretary is likely to submit its report to cabinet on 20th of this month. This is probably the last step before implementation unless Government decides to set up Group of Ministers (GOM) which never the less is political body and can submit its recommendation politically fast. It is suggested that Pay Commission can be implemented as early as July 2008 thereby making it possible that Salary paid in August 2008 shall be revised one.
But its not that good as news for those not happy with original report because not much is being changed except a little tempering with grade pay here and there. Armed Forces X-pay is being revised to 2000/-.
So keep your fingers crossed, may be we can beat the price of rice bags a little :)

Well... salary hike is o.k but what about the performance of Govt. employees. Pay hike without corresponding performance is like feeding a white elephant.

Please also suggest how performance of govt. employees can be evaluated. It is practically impossible to evaluate performance in the present system as it is judged by immediate superiors. This leads to a lot of favouritism and pressure on subordinates. Hence evaluation should be done by a neutral third party not directly connected to the employee's organizatin.

Agreed that revised pay scales will start from Aug 08,but how will the delay be compensated? On interim relief this time, how will a GOVT employee eight the inflation? Moreover it seems like the DA hike due in JULY will be pushed under the carpet, inspite of the rising inflation. The LEFT parties scream loud when it comes to the NUKE deal, where are they now, what about the GOVT employees interest?

Every one is talking about performance in Govt taking only the employees they normally come across like clerks et all. What about highly technical guys slogging in the labs to get us to the moon,to launch a million satellites, The IAS, IPS, and the Secretaries who are getting peanuts compared to Pvt sector. Think about it guys. If u throw peanuts, u can expect to get only monkeys.

I agree with vijayabanu. People do not know the intricacies of Govt. work. Just because you bribed a peon or a clerk to get your papers through does not mean that the peon or clerk doesnt work. even without the bribe that he was offered, he would still have worked for his meagre salary.

Why every one is suspecting integrity and performance of Govt. employees. It is hardly 5 to 10% people in Govt. sector who are bribed by Private people to get their paper cleared. But why U private people pay bribe, only because to earn money by back door or bypassing some norms. Infact U people are equally responsible for spoiling the system and making it Corrupt. You can not Clap single handidly and if U people are getting four five fouuld salaries as compared to Govt. employees, it is only because of Govt. policies and the bribe U people pay to Govt. functionaries which make U earn profits and show on paper that U are a part of Sick units and even some private companies who are paying handsome salaries to their employees, they manage to show them as units running under loss and getting some benefits of even sick units. Secondly the IQ level of Private people are not even comparable to many Govt.employees, the only thing Govt. employees lack is the exposure to challenges and feer of Job security, otherwise given a chance, even a duffer can prove him Genius. So please don't cry if Govt. Sector gets some pay hike and it will be justice to more than 80% honest and hard working lot in Govt. sector if their salaries are hiked to make it at par with Private sector.

It is very convenient to blame a govt employee for being no performer, but it is very sad to note that a private person or party tries to bribe a govt servant to get a much larger benefit. A private person when gets his work done by bribing he/she is termed smart and active while the persons to whom bribe is given is termed corrupt. Moreover Govt jobs involve work which are not easitly quantifiable. How can then actual performance be judged? Also when some one is facing problem with some private company or so then only can he feel that Govt departments are far more accountable and transparent. It is pity that a society of 120 crore people is non performer due to a small portion of Govt personnel approx 0.50% of society. Great blaming game.
