Very Studious - Its Indian Search

You don expect the whole nation to be looking for this university, or that school, that examination or that public examining body. But if you happen to be addressing Indian web  users, you find them doing just that. As a teacher I was delighted to see the Google trend, see in top 100 there are these many studious search-

Hindi Blogs are NOT among top15 Hindis being sought

Is is widely claimed that blogs are the most popular Hindi stuff on the net. trust me they are not. While it is true that Hindi Blogs are the biggest content creators, but it is not what people are seeking about hindi.

Going by Keyword Selector Tool top 15 search that has the word 'Hindi' are :

1. Hindi
2. Hindi Ringtones
3. Hindi Midi
4. Hindi Mp3
5. Hindi Polytones
6. Www.hindi
7. Free Hindi Mp3
8. Free Hindi Ringtones
9. Free Hindi Pop Mp3 Tones
10. Hindi Amr
11. Learning Hindi
12. Hindi Tone
13. Hindi Lyrics
14. Hindi Film Lyrics
15. Hindi Tone Downloads

But to our surprise almost no hindi blogs seem to be serving these terms. Why will you take suggestion but you will, please write for these words as well.

Sudhir Venkatesh and Gang Leader for a Day

Sudhir Venkatesh and his book Gang Leader for a day is geeting popular by the day. He is in news. Reviews pouring fast. Books2102SudhirVenkatesh for example the Guardian

And what a rich, terrifying story of 'outlaw capitalism' and institutional corruption it is. The premium is on doing business, interrupted only when necessary - or so JT claims - by 'niggers misbehaving'. Ubiquitous crime is a way of life: crack dormitories, prostitution, universal extortion, intimidation, carefully ranked salaries and duties in the apparent mayhem and gang mediation facilitated by pastors and the police.

So hindi Bloggers Go n grab the book and get a review done in Hindi as well. It is suggested that Venkatesh is unfair in almosr equating Blacks with criminals.

INDIAN RAILWAYS- Get a Reservation Now

We have our own railways man (ooops officer) great Gyanduttji. He must be very busy these days. Blogging community got this information from Anup today. But I can corrborate that he is likely to be really busy. just look at the top 100 google search of India.Exams are over and every Tom..Harry...Harinath is trying to get a birth in the cool clean coaches. Following terms were among top Railway related search

ScreenHunter_01 Mar. 10 16.34

indian railways,

reservation site indianrail.gov.in,

 indian railways reservation,

www.indianrailway.gov.in,

www.indianrailways.gov.in

I think going by these stats that even the wrong spelling are among the top search indicates that Indian railways Site is the most popular website of the nation. Whats your take.

Rangeela Rasool Returns Haunting

Have I read this hush hush book. No...No...No (I won't accept it publicly..noway) But Hindi Blogging does remember it. It was pre-napkin era when Avinash in his controversial best was trying to champion the anti-communal cause. People (Not just Benganis, but almost everyone) were fed up. So the tallest diagreed voice rose and challenged, ya Dhurvirodhi- "I have Rangeela Rasool, can you dare publish it at your blog" Avinsh was dumb ...hey hey hey

ScreenHunter_02 Mar. 09 22.52

Dhurvirodhi is gone but Avinash's post in which he asks for forgiveness for his deeds still refer to the challenge.

A Chandni that they like and they don't

Tarun is his honest and blunt post mentions that while blogvani can be referred to as sweet melody of nightingale. It is not the case with other aggregator chitthajagat, which was termed as Chandni chowk. Now this was really blunt. Vipul's team could not make its mind whether they'll keep chandni chowk title or shun it. Tarun like most user agrees that considering the features and technical aspects chitthajagat is definitely a better aggregator, but what is the point of having so many nice features that fails to attract user. Blogvani did well in user interface, Cyril's experience in handling the mass consumption software in the past worked well.

What I find interesting is the simile. While koyal's kook is fine..nice and poetic. It was chandni chowk that is loaded. While Tarun actually referred for its messy interface but Vipul and others did put a brave face by pretending to accept the coinage chandni chowk for it chandni. They actually introduced the tab 'chamchamata chandni chowk'. It is no more there now...better sense prevailed.

Hot trends of Google search engine is available only in English for India. Too be fair to them it is not because of some discrimination but because top100 which they announce continuously throughout the day, never has a Hindi (read devnagri) term.  So if I can only guess, what are the popular Hindi keywords,  I either go with the adword data available with Google. Alternatively I'll rely on experiences, my and that of other Hindi bloggers.

In August 2007 masijeevi

While Masijeevi in January2008- हालिया कीवर्ड विश्‍लेषण

then there is

Jagdish' Aaina search terms

bloggers have done it now and then to find out the search keywords, and it comes as no surprise that most people reach Hindi Blogs, while they were actually looking for some desi stuff...ya they were searching 'nangi ladkiyan' hoping to reach some porn site but since porn is well avoided some time at Google so they reach Irfan's blog because it has say a poem with a line as 'nangi sachchaai' and another with 'thaki hui ladkiyaan' nothing surprising though, it happens in English search as well.

ScreenHunter_01 Mar. 08 17.35

Sometime I find it very comforting that Hindi blogging is not keyword based...thankfully.

If we exclude the porn baits like desi, masti, then genuine hindi keywords left are- Hindi Blogs, mera bharat mahan, medha paatkar, hindi kavita, hindi kahani, hindi sahitya, hindi films, bollywood etc

Bad Girls of Hindi Blogosphere

Hindi language per se has always faced a difficulty in new discourses, the problem of linguistic inadequacy. An established culture of discourse makes a society democratic and tolerant. In addition to this this culture benefits the lingua franca of the society, because such a discourse culture allows new terms to develop and seep through. Unfortunately Hindi belt is most feudal in its construct hence little space for discourse culture. Language suffers as a obvious consequence . Family being the most feudal, gender discourse suffers the most because of this linguistic inadequacy of Hindi. Chokherbali, devised their own way and wordsmiths were taken aback. These otherwise decent educated women declaired their intention upfron by declairing that they are no more 'sushil' but are 'patanshilas' (Bad Girls) oops...patriarchs were gulping air and nothing else. In the  later part of the debate they made a case for using 'pragatisheel' (Progressive uhh..)  instead of new coinage.  Chokherbalis lost some ground but gained some. Its a long struggle.

Women's day and Hindi Blogs

Thanks to Chokherbali, now no matter how much you love or hate the gender issue, you just can't ignore it. If you happen to move around in Hindi Blogs then this is one international keyword that get some space in Hindi Blogs.

Some important Hindi Posts that concerns the Women's Day are

८ मार्च को महिला दिवस

तमाशा है महिला दिवस, अपने घर की स्त्रियों को तो आजाद करो

नारी तुम केवल सबला हो

महिलाओं के लिए बजट की माया

नारी मुक्ति (don't go by stale title, its a nice piece actually, come on Kanchan be innovative about headings)

चलो अब महिला दिवस भी मना ही लें!

There are likely to be some more. Keep Blogging

I gonna give this hot trend thing some time, especially with refrence to missing (and existing) keywords in hindi blogosphere. Take for example Hindi Prachar Sabha.  Trends suggest it has mild hotness

ScreenHunter_01 Mar. 07 22.32

But the fact remains that Hindi blogosphere has NO post serving this keyword. though as of now I don't find a reason for search being this hot. May be it has to do with some examination result of Dakshin Bhartiya Hindi Prachar Sabha. Watch out fellow bloggers.

Why are sex kahani seekers reaching this blog?

Its been really long so I promise again that I'll keep myself more regular now. BTW some nice and not so nice people were still visiting this blog, thanks to google.  I've switched to  google webmaster resources and analytics, though statcounter is still on but I think I'll hook to google now. So as per google stats here are the top 20 keywords that drew people to this blog

Why is Hindi Blogging so neutral to search trends?

Is it? No doubt actually!!

If you look at the search trends of google which send 80% of the internet traffic. But apart from a couple of posts on womens day, Hindi bloggers own den.. the blogvani is free from the hot trends like these top 10.

1.

2.

3.

Reason.. we obviously be self pleased that hey we are not like them..we are writing for human readers and not search engines. it sounds too to good to be true. It is actually. After all till yesterday we were writing for Narad, and then for blogvani...further stooping now we are writing for Mohalla, or chokherwali or bhadas..too bad.  Witing for google makes more sense isn't it?

English Tag crowd for todays hindi blogposts

created at TagCrowd.com

Exponentially Down

It was really a long break...hmm. Okay I'll try and be a bit more regular.  After all wise guys of Hindi blogosphere are suggesting that it won't be possible to catch up English blogging. Reasons are simply mathematical. Hindi blogging is legging behind not only in terms of number of blogs, posts and readers but also in terms of growth figures. While Hindi sis growing linear, rate in English is exponential.

Oh so it's going to be the way it is going. You blog in Hindi becoz you luv the language...then it is linguistic nationalism...and becoz you can't write in Hindi...and...  So there are a number of reasons but 'to make ends meet' is not one of them.

Actually Hindi blogosphere keep returning to grand paradigm of "versus English" for no known logic. Let's grow guys.
